Situation 2022:
To be honest, this campsite just exist because of the location and the nice Wind-, Kite-, Wing-, and Surf-Community.
Same Campsite just 1km away from the Beach won't have Guest´s.
Showers Toilets and Bungalows are quite old.
Old isn't an issue but most of the showers are broken, toilets are dirty and they try to safe as much toilet paper and towel paper as possible.
They are really expensive compared to other campsites and they don't offer any kind of discount for longterm camper. The only option is to buy a OCC-Membership to get an 15% discount.
They don´t realise what kind of goldmine they have, if they will invest in the Infrastruktur. The Spot and the City is amazing compared with locations like Tarifa or the Costa Brava.
Situation 2023
Unfortunately my 2022 Review is still valid. No changes or invest in the infrastructure.
It was a bad experience over all to stay here for 3 days in a bungalow. They were incredibly discriminatory about my illness and the limitations it entails. Even though we told them exactly what was needed they ignored it completely.
Also the bungalow was a disaster. It wasn’t worth the money not at all. The toilet was broken on day one, so we asked for help and they sent someone to the house but he just said that it’s normal. We fixed it on our own, and just for info… it is working now.
Hope that this helps someone :)
Enjoy your vacation ;)
I went to this campsite in my childhood and I have very good memories of it. It's good for wind and kite surfers and it has direct access to the beach. But now they have a gate and it closes at 8pm! So if you want to stay until late you have to go all the way round.
I was expecting some kind of renovations and works but to be honest the services haven't change not even a bit. They have been the same for 20/30 years. And the price is considerably more expensive now. The supermarket is minimal with over charged prices. The cafe/restaurant is the same for 20/30 years, and higher prices. Toilets, showers, miserable. Swimming pool - same since I remember with very old and not functioning chairs. The bungalows cost the same as in a hotel and the services are again, very disappointing. Maintenance is non existent and there's no microwave, no hairdryer, no shampoo/shower gel. Only a very old plate that takes ages to cook and a fridge that when you manage to open the door without breaking your hand, it freezes everything that's in inside. I'm very disappointed with this campsite and I think I won't be coming here again. No investment, no quality. It's a disappointment for a Portuguese to show this to my foreign friends.
.
Realy bad infrastructure. Damaged showers und cold Water. No light at night. Not clean.
Old and not good in shape.
Great location, nice staff, good facilities and decent pitch sizes. Direct access to beach & ferry to Viana do Castelo a bonus. Pity about the Rave on Friday 13 May 2022 which started at 10.00pm and finished at 6.00am the following morning. Hope it’s not a regular feature. Otherwise this was a great site.
+ Prime location right behind the sand dunes, at a good surf- & windsurf spot (that's what the two stars are for).
- All facilities seem to be at least 50 years old
- Only two hot showers for the whole site (4 during peak season) and “hot” is often just a euphemism for “not cold”
- Door to the beach closes at 8 pm. Wanna watch the sunset? Take the long way round! Wanna carry your windsurf equipment back after a late session? Take the long way round...
- During my last stay, there were noisy construction works going on for over two weeks. Why on earth did they start that during main season?
- Guests have to pay in advance and there are no refunds in case they'll have to leave earlier. Not exactly flexible.
Probably the worse camping experience we have had in Portugal. Small sites, very crowded, not particularly clean restrooms, minimum 2 nights stay, priced high compared to other campgrounds but they don't care much because they are very close to the beach and people pay it. I would not stay here again. The Orbiturs we stayed at in Nazaré and the one near Costa Nova are so much better.
Very small pitches very close to each other, old bathrooms with no hot water in sinks for washing or for washing dishes or laundry. Supermarket has very little. Owner unfriendly but reception guys very nice. Restaurant has very nice food and very well priced. It is the only campsite on the beach though so excellent for kitesurfing.
